Let me be your guide and tell you about the place. I am biased as I have lived here in Sotogrande in the south of Spain since 1977 and watched the original vision of the estate come to fruition.

Sotogrande in the deep south of Spain stretches from the sea to the mountains behind; it has every kind of housing from the largest and most luxurious, sited in completely discreet tropical gardens, to sea front apartments and hillside family villas as well as fincas in the surrounding hills.

This stretch of the Costa del Sol is home to a truly international community with the Spanish, British, Germans, Scandinavians, Belgians and Dutch heavily represented as well as others from much further afield - Americans, Mexicans, Iranians.

Sport is heavily represented but in particular golf, with 5 courses including the famous Valderrama. Sotogrande is also home to a huge polo community with 16 polo fields. Well over 3,000 ponies from all over the world - Brunaii to Argentina - come here to play in the summer games.

If urban sport, say clubbing, is more to your taste, the Costa del Sol’s infamous Marbella and Puerto Banus are 45 kilometres up the coast. The British outpost, Gibraltar, is just 12 kilometres to the east.
